Teaching point
Giant capillaries: loops with apical diameter ≥ 50 μm. Precise measurement depends on correct calibration and focus.
Measurements and calibration
For nonbranching apices with stable automated measurements, estimated widths span approximately 8–40 µm. These are automated estimates, not manually validated measurements. The dominant giant-appearing loop is not represented by a stable giant-range apex estimate in this subset.
Clinical caveat
This image illustrates a visual finding and should be interpreted with acquisition quality, distribution across fingers, clinical context, and serology when relevant.
